It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Margaret Nauss, 87 of Clearland, announces her passing on Monday, October 23, 2017, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Lunenburg, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret (Tanner) Clarke. Shirley worked in earlier years for Briney Deep Fisheries, Lunenburg then later house sat for a number of families in the area. She was a faithful member of St. James’ Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, where she was a member of the A.C.W. and served in the church nursery. Active within her community, she volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Red Cross and at the Mahone Nursing Home in Mahone Bay. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was supporting her family in all of their endeavours. Shirley is survived by her husband, Earle (They would have been married 70 years in December); sons, Wayne (Paulette), Halifax; Eric (Jeffrey Whynot), Liverpool; Christopher (Natasha), Martin’s Brook; grandchildren, Jennifer (Lloyd) Bond; Michael Nauss, Jade (Jeff Warnica); great-grandchildren, Rylan Nauss, Kaila Bond and Leah Bond, sister, Beulah Corkum, Lunenburg; brother, Donald, Martin’s Brook and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Hazel Wentzell and Elizabeth Ann Cruikshank, brothers, Gerald and George. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. 3, Lunenburg. A service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held Friday at 2:00 pm at St. James’ Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. Barbara Minard, officiating. Reception to follow the service at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. James’ Anglican Church, Mahone Bay; Diabetes Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
