MCLAIN, Ruth Clara

Age 98 of Cookville, formerly of Pine Grove, passed away April 2, 2024, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Big Lots on February 14, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Enes and Evelene (Oickle) Hirtle.

Ruth is survived by daughters, Jessie (Darcy) Fletcher, Pine Grove; Marie McLain, Chester; grandchildren, Ricky, and Anthony; 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Harry; brothers, Rodney, and Lomar; and grandson, Mathew.

In her younger years, Ruth was a country girl. She enjoyed working on the farm, being outdoors and gardening. She was an avid crocheter, and hooked rugs and mats. Ruth always enjoyed country music, attending many blue grass jams over the years. She was proud of her grandchildren, and especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held 2 p.m., Sunday, April 7, in Pine Grove Cemetery, Pine Grove.

Donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Canadian Cancer Society, The Victorian Order of Nurses, The Pine Grove Cemetery Fund, or a charity of choice.
