73, of Wileville, Lunenburg County, formerly of Sweetland and Baker Settlement, Lunenburg County, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2017, with his family by his side, after his battle with cancer. Born May 15, 1944, he was a son of the late Ernest and Daisy (Slauenwhite) Veinotte. Derrel was a hard worker from a very young age. He was a Farmer and Scallop Fisherman for 18 years. He owned and operated a successful Logging Business until he was forced to shut down in January 2017 because of his Illness. He attended many Exhibitions with a team of horses or a pair of oxen. Breaking many pair of oxen was his passion. He also made yokes for his, and many other pair of oxen which will become a dying trade with Derrel’s passing. To relax, he loved to play cards, go dancing and visit with family and friends. He enjoyed life and those who knew him will miss his infectious laugh. Surviving are his wife Linda; children Donald (Lisa Trask), Sweetland, Donna Meisner (Sean), West Northfield, Neil, Bridgewater, Todd (Bonnie), Upper Branch, Troy, Conquerall Bank; sisters Viola, Evelyn, Rosaline and Irma; grandchildren, Morgan, Amanda, Nicholas, Patrick, Emma, Conner, Jade, Krishna and Jacob; Great-grandchildren, Tyler and Emmalynn. He was predeceased by his sister Lillian. Visitation will be held 7-9pm Wednesday in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, and where funeral service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, Rev. Willis Ott Officiating. Interment will follow in Sweetland Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial Donations may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia or the Asthma Association.
