SARTY (Mailman), Muriel Louise

2023-02-15

Age 104, died peacefully at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, February 15, 2023. Born in Midville Branch, Lunenburg County, November 26, 1918, youngest child of Harben and Sadie Mailman (Veinot).

At 104 years, a lot happened in her life, both good and not so great. Always looking ahead to what work needed to be done, as long as she was able, she got up each morning with a purpose, something on her mind to be done. She enjoyed working in the kitchen, baking or cooking something tasty. She remembered birthdays and sent cards to family and friends. It was important to her to let people know she remembered them as well as in times of trouble or loss. She would tell friends that one secret to her long life was "I eat lots of potatoes". She often related the story of walking through the woods as a young girl to take music lessons. She played the organ for many years at church services and other occasions. Until age 100, she still enjoyed stopping for coffee at Tim’s and chatting with new/old friends she met there.

She was predeceased by her parents, two older brothers, Ross and Ray; sisters-in-law Ethel and Cora; daughter Carolyn, and sons-in-law Bernard Keating and Wennis Garber; and Laura Mailman.

Survived by daughters Judith and Donna; grandchildren Shelley (Philip) Meisner, Jennifer (Kevin) Keating-Hubley, Jodi (Fred) Carroll, and Ashley Garber; great-grandsons Bertram and Negan ‘Dean’ Carroll. Also survived by nephews Gordon, Randall (Marsha) Mailman, and Garth Mailman; nieces Joan (Emery) Falkenham, Marguerite (Richard) Joudrey and families.

A service of remembrance will be held Friday, July 7, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgewater. A reception will follow in the church hall.
