DEMONE, Wayne T.

2021-05-20

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Wayne T. DeMone, 82, of Garden Lots on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Wayne was born in Lunenburg to the late Warren and Jean (Nauss) DeMone.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughters, Joanne Zinck (Kenny), Carole DeMone Schulz (Reiner); son, Ronald DeMone (Shelley); grandchildren, Melissa Zinck, Brooke DeMone and Spencer DeMone, Mark Schulz and Derrick Schulz; sister, Louise Strickland (Doug Himmelman) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wayne was predeceased by his brother, Douglas and an infant sister, Virginia.

At age 17, Wayne travelled to Ontario and eventually found employment at the Uranium mines in Elliot Lake until the mines closed. He then returned home to Nova Scotia and worked for Engineering Services constructing wharfs at National Sea, then worked for Ben’s Ltd. Next, he became a Prudential Insurance Agent from where he retired in 1996.

He was quite the handyman who would take on any project and he always completed them to his satisfaction. When something broke or could be improved, Wayne was the first person family and friends would call. He enjoyed boating and was an avid diver, but he was happiest spending time at his camp on Cross Island.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Highway 3, Lunenburg.

A graveside committal will take place August 13 at 3:30 p.m. at the new Garden of Rest Cemetery in Blockhouse. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

Celebrate Wayne’s life with an act of kindness, or a donation may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, Garden of Rest Cemetery, Blockhouse or to a charity of your choice. www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
