COMEAU, Pamela Lucille

2023-05-13

It is with great sadness that the family of Pamela Lucille Comeau, 58, of Crouse’s Settlement, Lunenburg County, announces her passing on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at home.

Born in Lunenburg, Pam was the daughter of the late Lucille (Spidle) Young.

Pam started her working career at Highliner Foods in Lunenburg and then went to further her education at King’s Tech in Horticulture and Landscaping. Her passion was working in the outdoors and after graduation in 2001, she started working with the Town of Lunenburg, where she took great pride in looking after all of the town’s green spaces. Pam’s contributions helped to make Lunenburg a town of beauty. Her passion for sharing her knowledge led to her being a go-to for anyone seeking guidance and a good dose of humour. She delighted in helping others, both in her work and at home.

Pam was always grateful to her foster parents who cared for her over the years, especially Darrell and Myra Spurr and Calvin and Irene Banfield and their families who were always supportive of her and she never forgot them.

At home, Pam and Bev tirelessly created, maintained and grew a sanctuary that was enjoyed by family, friends, and anyone who had the pleasure of walking the Crouse’s Settlement Community. She could always be found in her garden, greenhouse, or building another shed to their farm land for their animals. When she did take time to relax, she would be cheering on the Pittsburgh Penguins or volunteering on the Executive with the South Shore Genealogical Society.

She was a spark plug and a spitfire, known for her quick wit and sarcastic humour. Although she didn’t have children of her own, she always said she was lucky to have skipped right to sharing grandchildren with Bev.

Pam is survived by her loving partner, Beverly Martell; Bev’s children, Shawn (Darlene) Martell, and Selena (Mike) Mawhinney; grandchildren, Renee Martell (Amanda), Keara Martell (Harry), Lexie Mawhinney (Courage), and Maiya Martell; and sisters, Debbie Rognerud (George Atkinson), London ON, Sandra Reeves (Doug Jackman), Rhodes Corner, and Jyl Reeves (Tony Tanner), Centre.

She was predeceased by her mom, Lucille, and her sister, Georgina Veinot.

A celebration of Pam’s life will be held at her home in Crouse Settlement, 627 Crouse’s Settlement Rd., on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. Please consider bringing an outdoor chair. Interment to follow at the Middle LaHave Cemetery.

Those desiring may make donations in Pam’s memory to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
