CARREIRO, Richard Paul

2017-08-11

Rose Bay, Nova Scotia- Richard was born August 3, 1930 and passed away August 11, 2017. He was a devoted husband, an adoring father and a doting grandfather. He was a unique and exceptional human being. He loved all of humanity and treated everyone with great respect. He was an educator, a poet, an artist, a human rights advocate, "with not merely a mind and a heart, but unquestionably a soul." (e.e. cummings). Surviving are his beloved wife Shirley, his children Paul (Agnes), Lisa (Sandi), Stephen (Marlene), Donna (Lawrence) and Linda (Richard); seven loving grandchildren. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate home care workers who cared for Richard at home, and later the nurses of the medical ward at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital. We are forever in your debt. As per Richard’s request, his remains will be spread on a field of daisies. A celebration of his life will be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to the R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, where on-line condolences may be made by visiting www.corkumfuneralhome.ca
