WEBBER, Ruby Madison

2017-05-24

8 months, of New Ross, passed away in the IWK Children’s Health Center on May 24, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was the cherished daughter of Candace Gates and Lucas Webber. Baby Ruby was a sweet little angel and the pride and joy of her parents. Those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time. She possessed strength, perseverance and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. Ruby's favourite colour was red and she especially liked her stuffed sock monkey and red love bug. She liked having baths and listening to Cat Stevens songs, in particular “Morning Has Broken”. For the past four months, one or both of Ruby's parents were with her every day at the IWK. As the days passed, it became apparent that Ruby had wonderful powers to do things for others. She showed us the love and kindness in our hearts and made us come together and be there for each other. Some referred to Ruby as a little angel and perhaps this is why she had to get her work done here and leave so soon. Ruby is survived by her parents; paternal grandparents Diane and Ashton Webber; maternal grandparents Wanda and Marty Murphy; Terry Gates; great-grandparents Sylvia Webber, Ivalo Gates and Beatrice Larder; uncles Jonah (Kelly) Gates; Matthew (Breanne) Gates; Errol (Amanda) Webber; cousin Noah Webber and many other close family members. Ruby, we will always love you and we are blessed having you forever living in our hearts. Many thanks to the incredible staff at the IWK Health Centre and to so many from within and outside the community who visited, sent well wishes and prayers, gave gifts and donations, fundraised or showed their love in other ways. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 29, 2017, at 2:00 pm in the New Ross United Baptist Church. No flowers by family request. A reception will follow the service at the Forties Community Centre. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the IWK Children’s Health Centre. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, New Ross Chapel.
