ROY, Robert Gary

2017-10-15

47, passed away in Calgary on October 15, 2017. Formally of Vogler’s Cove, Robert was born March 13, 1970, the son of Reta M. Roy, Bridgewater and the late Gary S. Roy. Robert attended NSCC, Truro, NS and received his diploma in Refrigeration/Air Conditioning. He worked at Ed Stairs Refrigeration in Fredericton for a year and then decided he wanted to work with natural gas and decided to move to Calgary, Alberta in 1994 to get the experience he was hoping for in his trade. He did very well and received all the diplomas he was aiming for and was very successful in his trade. He was very well liked and loved to talk to people and help customers with their problems. He had the gift of gab and said he could always leave a customer happy. Robert was very proud to be told by his boss several times that the customers only wanted Rob Roy to look after their service on their equipment. He tried selling equipment but was too soft to be aggressive enough and ended up going back to what he did well and that was service. His fellow co-workers had the nickname that was either smiley or ole softie. Everyone loved his big smile and his friendly attitude. He left behind his precious little four-legged sidekicks, Riki, and Riley. Robert was predeceased by wife Marcia March 29, 2017. Left to mourn are half-sister, Paulette Flinn (Scott) of Hillsburn, Annapolis County and three nephews, two great-nephews and two great-nieces, Aunt Bev (Frank) Organ, Truro, Uncle Willie (Ruthann) Corkum, Truro, Aunt Ruby Oickle, Bridgewater, Uncle Art MacLeod, Liverpool and several cousins. Robert was predeceased by Aunt Joyce Emery and Uncle Alton Corkum.
