MILLER, Flora Amanda “Elizabeth”


After a full life of 102 years, the family of Flora Amanda “Elizabeth” Miller, Lunenburg announce her passing on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg.

Born in Lunenburg, she was a daughter of the late Gerald and Flora (Pyke) Lewis.

Elizabeth started her working career in the home of Willoughby Ritcey in Riverport and then went on to work at the Ovens Natural Park. In later years she was employed at Rudolf’s Ladies Wear in Lunenburg and when working for Elections Canada enjoyed her position as a scrutineer.

Active within her community she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliaries of the Lunenburg Fire Department, the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 23, Lunenburg, and a member of St. John’s Anglican Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was the Greatest Mom Ever!!

Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Scott (Nancy), Greenfield, Gary (Nancy), Lunenburg; grandchildren, Lindsay, Andrew (Shawna), Cassandra, Barrett (Stephanie); great-grandchildren, Adeline, Laughlan, Sophia, Penelope, and Peri.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by husband, Douglas, an infant son, sisters, Vantine, Mildred and Jean, brothers, George, Bordon, John, Charles, William, and Gerald.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Highway 3, Lunenburg. A graveside service to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg, Rev. Tory Byrne, officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Lunenburg Fire Department or to the Poppy Fund of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 23, Lunenburg.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care and the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care of Elizabeth over the years.
