Age 95, of Lunenburg, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017, at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Lunenburg on March 19, 1922, Jean was the daughter of the late Eglah and John Walters. Jean was a faithful member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lunenburg; a member of Zion Lutheran Women; a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #23, Lunenburg, Ladies’ Auxiliary; Tea & Co., Bridgewater; and the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Jean worked for many years in her husband’s business, Crouse’s Sporting Centre. She always enjoyed swimming and was a member of Elderfit. Jean loved to camp at Lake Mush-a-Mush and spent many years travelling to Florida each winter with her husband, Elvin. Jean is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Robert) Daniels, Oakland; son, John Kenneth (Jackie), Bedford; grandchildren, Ryan Crouse, Halifax, Meghan Romero, Stratford, ON, Kendall Kinsman, Halifax; great-grandsons, Maddox Smeltzer-Crouse and Orrin McEwan; sister, Sylvia (Arthur) Crouse, Halifax; and several nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by an infant daughter, her loving husband, Charles Elvin, sister, Christobel Cantelope (Dr Douglas) and brother, Vernon Walters, Lunenburg. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. 3, Lunenburg, where visitation will take place on Thursday from 7-9 pm. As per Jean’s wishes, she has been cremated and a celebration of Jean’s life will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, 11:00 am on Friday, Rev. Rick Pryce officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.
