It is with great sadness that the family of Ida Mary “Beatrice” Hiltz, 98 of Lunenburg announces her passing on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born in Little Bay West, NF, she was the daughter of the late John Joseph and Rosanna (Garland) Skinner.

In her earlier years Beatrice lived in Lakeside where she raised her family and then to Timberlea and in 1984 moved to Lunenburg where many of her family were living.

She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, spending time at home with family and friends, enjoying the outdoors tending to her beautiful gardens and many will remember her for her love of cooking and baking. She was a devoted member of St. John’s Anglican Church.

Her love of life, family, friends and the community at large, were so important to her. Beatrice’s quiet courage, strength of spirit, creativity and sense of humour will be carried forward by those who knew and loved her. She was a golden thread of love spun invisibly through all our hearts and lives.

Beatrice is survived by her sons, Raymond (Linda) Hiltz of Dartmouth and Donald (Nancy) Hiltz of Timberlea, grandchildren, Donald Jr., Chris, Dan, Adam and Lewise and great grandchildren, Hunter, Cullen, Ava, Luca, Isabella, Liam and Talia; brothers, Chesley (Doreen) Skinner, Bridgewater, Albert, Lunenburg and Winston, Newcombville and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis; sister, Elsie and brothers, Eli, Raymond, Arthur and Stanley.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. A private family service to celebrate Beatrice’s life will be held. Interment will be in St. Martin’s Cemetery, Martin’s River.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church or to the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

The family would like to Thank the Doctors and Nurses and Staff of the Medical Unit at the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion given to Beatrice while she was at the hospital. www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
