BECK, Robert Kenneth

2021-12-29

Age 84, of Wilmot, Annapolis Co., passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, December 29, 2021. Born in Lunenburg, November 8, 1937, he was the only son of the late Moyle Kitchner Beck (lost in action in Second World War) and Bertha Ellen (Tanner) Beck, and stepfather, Morris Allen.

Robert attended Lunenburg Academy, where the school bell never rang until they saw Robert coming up the hill. He worked his earlier years for Atlantic Bridge in Lunenburg and found his way to the Valley when he was hired to be a welding instructor at the Annapolis Regional Vocational School (now known as NSCC, Middleton Campus). He taught there for 25 years until his retirement. After his retirement, Robert and Katherine enjoyed travelling as well as their time at the cottage at Zwickers Lake. Family time was very special to Robert, and he enjoyed his role as father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He always enjoyed his trips to Lunenburg to visit his Aunt Irene, Uncle Junior and their family. In recent years, a drive to the “barn” or to visit friends was a big part of his routine. As well as an accomplished welder, Robert was a “jack-of-all-trades” and relished the chance to help family and friends with special projects. Robert was an active member of the Harmony Lodge No. 52, A.F. & A.M., Aylesford.

Robert was predeceased by his wife, Katherine Joan (Acker) Beck, of 58 years; and a grandson, Matthew Beck.

Robert is survived by his three children, Terry (Heather) Beck, North Kingston; Graham (Kathleen) Beck of South Tremont and Sandra (Peter) Hebb of Port Joli; grandchildren, Nicole (Tony) Kalicicki, Justin Beck; Laura (Jesse) Beck and Jason (Wanda) Hebb; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Leann, Ethan, Dameon, Annie May, Izabella and Evelette.
