It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Charlotte Black, 99 of Lunenburg, announces her passing on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born in Blue Rocks, she was the daughter of the late Capt. Lawrence and Myrtle (Knickle) Allen.

Jean was a graduate of the Lunenburg Academy and Mount Allison Commercial College and then worked for over 40 years in the office of Adams & Knickle Ltd. Over the years she had been an active member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Lunenburg, serving on the Board of Management, Trustees and taught Sunday School. She was also involved in the IODE, Fishermen’s Memorial Ladies Auxiliary, was a CGIT leader and served in other community organizations. Jean is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Jean is survived by her step-son, Robert (Shirley) Black, Lunenburg, step-daughter-in-law, Mary Black, Bridgewater, grandchildren, Catherine (Spencer) Hubbard, Texas; Shelley (Barry) Brownson, Edmonton, Alberta, Stephen (Pam) Black, Hammonds Plain; Richard Black, Lunenburg, great-grandchildren, Morgan, Cameron, Emma, Robyn, Samantha, Rachel, Chloe and Meredith.

She was predeceased by her husband, George, step-son, George, brother, Murray; step-mother, Violet Knickle; step-brother, Arthur Allen and step-sister, Dorothy Allen.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. A graveside committal service to celebrate Jean’s life took place on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at the Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery.
