WILE, Bernard Nelson

2023-06-06

89, of Hemford, passed away June 6, 2023 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Hemford on November 2, 1933, he was the youngest child of Stewart and Lessie Wile.

Bernie’s early working years were spent in southern Ontario. Returning home each year, he met Carol and they eventually settled in Hemford where he would work for L.E. Shaws in Dartmouth and Wellington, NS. Closer to home, Bernie worked for the Public Service Commission for the Town of Bridgewater until his retirement in 1996.

Dad, Pop, loved the outdoors and for many years spent time on his Christmas Tree lot. He grew pumpkins for the Howard Dill Pumpkin Festival, the largest being 400lbs. Dad loved animals, especially cats, and took pleasure naming every black and white cat Daisy. But, the hobby that brought the biggest smile to Bernie’s face was salmon fishing, especially when he hooked that big one.

Surviving are his wife Carol; daughter Michelle (Royce); sons Nelson (Chantal), Donald (Nancy); grandchildren Curtis, Brandon (Julia); step-grandson Miah (Alexi).

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.

The family would like to thank EHS, South Shore Regional Hospital Emergency room staff, and Dr. John Jenkins.

By request, there will be no service at this time. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. On-line condolences may be made by visiting www.corkumfuneralhome.ca

Bernie will be dearly missed.
