2023-05-08

It is with great sadness that the family of Winston Paul Thomas Skinner, 63, of Blue Rocks announces his passing on Monday, May 8, 2023, at home with his family by his side.

Born in Lunenburg, he was a son of the late Eli and Rita (Crant) Skinner.

Winston started his working career at High Liner Foods for 21 years, then worked various jobs until he went on to work at Stelia where he worked for the last 16 years.

Winston was a quiet guy who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, spending time at home with his family and friends, camping, enjoying his 70s music and those who knew him realized his love for sports as an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays, Pittsburgh Steelers and anything wrestling. His love of life, family, friends and the community at large, were so important to Winston.

Winston is survived by his wife, Debbie; son, Ryan (Ashley), Blue Rocks; his adored grandson, William, brothers, Kevin of Blockhouse; Boyd (Rose) Skinner of Middlewood; uncle, Chesley (Doreen) Skinner, Bridgewater; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and cousins and his canine companion, Bella.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Betty Bush, and brother, Ricky.

A memorial service to celebrate Winston’s life was held on Friday May 12, 2023, at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg; Rev. Patrick Bright, officiated. Interment was held in the Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lunenburg County Pro Kids, SHAID Tree Animal Shelter, the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
