RCMP have confirmed that a plane has crashed into a wooded area in Italy Cross at approximately 12:30 p.m. on August 16.
The pilot and passenger of the Cessna aircraft walked away from the crash and were treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the plane took off from a nearby lake, experienced difficulties, and crashed into a heavily wooded area, according to an RCMP release.
Lunenburg County District RCMP, Emergency Health Services and the Middlewood Fire Department attended the scene.
Search and Rescue has dispatched a Cormorant to the site of the crash as well.
The Transportation and Safety Board has been contacted.
RCMP remain on scene and the investigation is ongoing.
