Street racing nabs men from Chester and Chester Basin stunting charges

A man from Chester and another from Chester Basin in separate cars were charged with stunting April 29 after Halifax District RCMP clocked the two vehicles traveling at 165 km/hr in a 110 km/hr zone on Highway 103.

Both vehicles appeared to have been racing when they sped past an RCMP car on the 103 in Lakeside at 1:49 a.m., according to a RCMP release.

Both the 25-year-old man from Chester and the 23-year-old man from Chester Basin face fines of $2,422.50. Their drivers' licences were immediately suspended and their vehicles seized.

Halifax District RCMP want to remind the public that speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads. Road Safety is a priority for the RCMP, and drivers are reminded to make it their priority as well.

If you see someone driving unsafely on our roads, report it by calling Halifax District RCMP at 902-490-5020 or 911.
