SHAID Tree Animal Shelter

Last time we shared a story of a SHAID dog looking for his forever home with LighthouseNOW, Bosco hit the jackpot and is now living his best life with his new human, a kind, older gentleman who was looking for a partner in crime.

He had seen Bosco's story in the newspaper and thought they might be the perfect match; and after a few one-on-one meetings, Bosco was thrilled to jump up in his truck and go home.

We'd now like to introduce Nova and Jake!

Nova is a four-year-old rottweiler who lived with his human and another dog until the housing crisis rendered his human homeless. He has since been neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites, microchipped, vet-checked, had surgery to correct his bilateral entropion, and was treated for a double ear infection.

He's a big boy and tips the scales at 45.4 kgs! Nova is looking for an experienced home, as he is a typical rottie who needs firm direction and further training. We were told he frequented dog parks when he was younger and he was described as his former owner's "heart dog".

He does present with a prey drive towards cats, so we are recommending a home with no cats or small children (due to his size).

Jake is an eight-year-old small rottie-mix with a charming personality and sad story. His owner passed away recently, and he was passed onto a friend of the family.

Another victim in the housing crisis, he ended up living in his car and surrendered Jake to a local veterinary clinic who then contacted the SPCA and SHAID for help. Since arriving at SHAID, Jake has been neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites, microchipped, and vet-checked. Jake, although clearly grieving his past owner, is ready to find his new forever home.

He can be reactive to other dogs (although we have not seen him react to any other dogs as of press time) but seems well-adjusted to cats and children 12 years and older.

If you have room in your heart and home for one of these two handsome boys, please don't hesitate to reach out for more information by calling 902-543-4849 or emailing info@shaidanimalshelter.com">info@shaidanimalshelter.com.

You can also meet them when you come to our open house this Saturday, Nov. 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We are inviting the whole community to come tour the shelter, visit our current residents, enjoy some complimentary snacks and desserts, and pick up your 2023 SHAID Tree Animal Shelter calendar.
