Lunenburg man dies in Highway 103 car crash



A man, 64, from Lunenburg County is dead after a car crash on Highway 103 in Upper Tantallon between Exits 5 and 5A on December 31.

Initial investigation determined that the man's car, a 2006 Saturn Ion, was struck from behind by a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, according to an RCMP release. Both vehicles were traveling west-bound at the time of the accident.

RCMP, EHS and Halifax Regional Fire responded to the accident before 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The 64-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Cavalier, a 17-year-old male from Lunenburg County, was treated at the scene by EHS for minor injuries.

An RCMP collision analyst attended the scene which resulted in a section of Highway 103 being closed for several hours. The investigation is continuing.
