LighthouseNOW’s top online stories for 2019

by Charles Mandel

Crashes and crime drew LighthouseNOW's highest readership online, according to Google analytics. Out of the top five stories on social media for 2019, three concerned either crashes or crime.

Over the course of the year, LighthouseNOW received over one million page views with the greatest number of readers - not surprisingly - coming from Bridgewater. But statistics show thousands of people also accessed our website from Montreal, Toronto, and Chicago as well.

We reported on any number of good news stories, such as the opening of a new pub in Petite Riviere, or the numerous individuals who received awards over the course of the year.

Nor did we neglect politics and social issues, writing about Lyme disease, the federal election, and more.

While all these stories posted strong online interest, nothing grabbed peoples' attention like a crash.

In order from first to last, the top five stories on social media for LighthouseNOW in 2019 were: Three hurt in Highway 103 crash near Bridgewater; Land-use rules sour future of Bridgewater candy store; Students hurt, driver charged after motorhome collides with school bus near Lunenburg; Halifax developers plan to invest millions in Bridgewater downtown; and Bridgewater child killer gets more temporary escorted absences from prison to attend church.
