Leon's, the name synonymous with the iconic Canadian furniture retailer, shuttered its Bridgewater Mall store.

Customers arriving Friday at the LaHave Street location were met with notices posted on windows informing the public of the closure. The notice directs customers to dial the Dartmouth Leon's if they have orders.

The woman who answered the phone Friday at the Dartmouth store said they just learned of the Bridgewater store closure that morning and didn't know why it wasn't operating. "They are a franchise store, so I can't answer that question," she said.

"We've been instructed that somebody from corporate will call [customers] for any outstanding orders in the system."

She wasn't aware of anyone in corporate who may be able to answer questions about the closure.

A Leon's store in Coldbrook, in Kings County, also shut its doors Friday.
