Firefighters for Felines 2024 calendar on sale soon

SHAID Tree Animal Shelter has always had a calendar fundraiser showcasing photos of people's pets (usually adopted from SHAID over the years).

But this year our fundraising committee wanted to do something special and new, featuring local heroes, and of course, kittens. It was back in March when the group met and decided to see if we could put together a calendar featuring local fire departments and our little feline friends.

Oakhill, Hebbville, Mahone Bay, Martins River, Petite Riviere, and Blockhouse volunteer fire departments agreed to volunteer their time to take part in this important fundraiser, and Caroline Hale Photography also offered to donate her amazing photography services.

Dates were booked and kittens were selected to attend each shoot in May, and then all the awful forest fires began. We heard many terrifying stories and heroic acts of bravery, with many of these firefighters working day and night while still ensuring they took some extra time to meet with us and receive some kitten cuddle therapy.

We are in awe of these heroes and the dedication they give to our community, and are so thankful to have forged some amazing friendships with them. Some of the firefighters fell in love with the kittens they worked with and ended up adopting them!

Our 2024 Firefighters for Felines calendars will be going on sale beginning in September, however you can pre-order a copy from our website, www.shaidanimalshelter.com or call us at 902-543-4849 to ensure you don't miss out.

Calendars are $20 each, with the option of shipping to your door for an extra $5. Our heartfelt thanks to all the volunteer firefighters that protect our communities, who go above and beyond the call of duty.
