Fire destroyed a vacant building Tuesday in Western Head.

Volunteer firefighters were called to the scene of a possible woods fire but, upon arrival, discovered a structure fully engulfed in flames in a wooded area down a long driveway.

"It looked like a house from what we could tell but we're not sure," said Liverpool's fire chief Trevor Munroe.

A passerby called in the fire at around 2:40 p.m. The blaze was knocked down shortly after and by 3:30 p.m. firefighters were dealing primarily with hot spots. The wooden structure is a total loss.

Additional fire departments from Greenfield, North Queens, and Port Medway were also summoned to the incident.

RCMP were on the scene interviewing witnesses.
