Bridgewater man faces drug charge

Police in Halifax are charging a Bridgewater man with possession for the purpose of trafficking after a driver was arrested May 20 on Bayers Road near Connaught Avenue.

Hydromorphone pills and cash were seized by law enforcement after the driver and passenger were arrested following the 5 p.m. traffic stop.

The amount of cash and number of pills discovered were not made public by the police. The passenger was released without charge.

A Bridgewater resident, 26, faces a single drug allegation. His name can't be released as law enforcement have yet to file the charge Information.

Patrol officers and drug section members of the department's integrated criminal investigation division were involved in the arrest and traffic stop.

The accused is due to appear in a Halifax court at a later date.
