Age 90, of Lunenburg, passed away quietly on June 8, 2017, at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg after several years of declining health. Born in Lunenburg on December 29, 1926, she was the oldest of three daughters of the late Wallace and Lottie (Schnare) Daniels. She was a devoted and lifetime member of St. John’s Anglican Church in Lunenburg as a member of their choir, the hand bell choir and the ladies guild. For several years, she was a member of Girl Guides of Canada. A daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a tireless worker around the home for her family. Ruth will be sadly missed by her three children, Terry (Penny) Winters, Ottawa; Deborah (Jimmy) Veinotte, Blockhouse; and Bruce (Tanya) Winters, Lunenburg; and sisters, Shirley Gilroy, Dartmouth and Ivy Ernst, Bridgewater. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon, Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A service to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held in St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg on Tuesday, June 13th, 2017 at 2:00 pm, Rev. Alvin Westgate officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. John’s Anglican Church Building Fund or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
