Peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife and family at the Prince County Hospital in Summerside, on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, Richard Franklin Corkum of Summerside, aged 58 years, passed away. Born in Lunenburg, NS on March 28, 1961, he was the son of the late Wallace and Ruby (Rhodenizer) Corkum. Richard was the cherished husband of Wendy (Simmons) Corkum; brother of Roderick (Mylinda) Corkum, Timberlea, NS; Blair Corkum (Sharlene Clark-Corkum), Charlottetown; and Anthony Corkum, Middle LaHave, NS and his friend Cathy Creaser, Feltzen South, NS; brother-in-law of Wayne (Natalie) Simmons, Charlottetown; uncle of Brent (Emilynn), Colin, Andrew and Devon Simmons. He was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Pauline (Moase) Simmons. Richard was a special godfather and father figure to many. He is resting at the Davison Funeral Home in Kensington where visitation was on Saturday, May 11,2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral was Sunday, May 12 at Trinity United Church, Summerside, at 2 p.m. Interment was in People’s Cemetery Kensington.
