It is with great sadness that the family of Gloria June Evangeline Crouse, 87 of Lunenburg announces her passing on Friday, July 14, 2017, after a long and full life. A spirited woman, she is now finally at rest. Born in Lunenburg , NS she was the daughter of the late Angus and June (Allen) Tanner. Gloria received her early education at the Lunenburg Academy and began her working career as a bookkeeper with Ivan B. Crouse and Sons. She then sold real-estate for a short time with Royal Lepage before going on to work for many years at Paceships Ltd. in Mahone Bay. Active within her community, she was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital and in her earlier years, was instrumental in organizing the children's parade at the Fisheries Exhibition. Living an active lifestyle was important to Gloria which began at a young age with her love of basketball and curling and continued into her later years with lively games of bridge with friends, for which she will be fondly remembered. Gloria always had a special affection for beloved family pets and spent many hours knitting beautiful sweaters for so many. She also took great pleasure in preparing and serving wonderful meals to family and friends. Gloria is survived by her daughter, Becky (Phil) Hardie of Halifax; son, Richard (Rosalie) Crouse, Birchy Head; her cherished grandson, Cameron and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold, sister, Virginia and brothers, Rayburn, Carl, James and Ronald. A service to celebrate Gloria's life will be held in mid-August at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. 3 Lunenburg. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Lunenburg.
