Born on October 17, 1939, in Charlottetown, P.E.I., Margo Hefler (McGuire) passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness with lung cancer on May 3, 2017. She was a daughter of the late Darrel and Nan McGuire. After starting a career in nursing she decided it was not for her and proceeded with a career in secretarial and office administration. The last 15 years of her work career she became involved in a family holding company of businesses as President and bookkeeper for the business. Her passions included spending time with her family, especially cheering her grandchildren in all their endeavours. She loved to read and trade books with many of her friends. She was fond of and got a great deal of joy from her many flower gardens. She loved the water and wildlife, especially watching loons. She was an avid swimmer and lifeguard as a teen. Also known for doing laps for extended periods of time in a pool or swimming across a lake. Margo had a love for all animals and especially dogs, from birth she almost always had a dog in her life. Margo was always up for a good party and especially enjoyed the Happy Hour Parties at Yankee Traveler in Florida where she made many special friends. She had a great gift that people gravitated to her and in particular teenagers. During their Kinsmen years, Margo and Ron had the opportunity to travel Canada and parts of Europe and the United States where she made many lifelong friends along the way. Margo will be missed by her loving husband, Ron of 38 wonderful years. Margo leaves behind her only sister, Joan Marie Balcom. She will be missed by her beloved daughters, Megan Poole, Jenna Lynn Bateman (Paul) and stepdaughters, Peggy Hefler and Donna Ainslie (Jeff). Her love will be missed by her grandchildren, Nickolas (Katelynn), Alex, Connor, Madison, Duncan, Stephanie, Christian, Holly and Ashley. Loving aunt to Lynn, Michael (Sandra) and Nancy. A Celebration of Margo’s Life will be held at New Cornwall Baptist Church, 2222 Cornwall Road, Middle Cornwall on Tuesday, May 9th at 2 pm. Reception to follow at the Cornwall Fire Hall, 2588 Cornwall Road. Request Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
