It is with great sadness the family of the late William “Billy” Arthur Atkinson, 91, of Bridgewater and formerly of Dartmouth, announces his passing on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of the late Cecil and Florence (Jefferson) Atkinson. Billy started his earlier working career as an auto body repairman with Rafuse Motors, Bridgewater and Roger Nauss, Lunenburg and then moved to Dartmouth where he worked at Forbes Chev Olds until his retirement. With he and his wife, Sylvia being Deaf they were great supporters socially of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Society within the metro area. Billy enjoyed his home and could be always found tinkering in woodworking. He and his wife Sylvia lovingly supported each other and cherished the 50 years that they were together. Billy is survived by his wife, Sylvia, sister, Gwendolyn St. Clair, Ontario and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Freddie, sisters, Marion, Marjorie and Margaret. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy.,#3, Lunenburg where a memorial service to celebrate Billy’s life will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Society of Deaf and Hard of Hearing of N. S. or to a charity of your choice. www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
