86, of Bridgewater, Lunenburg County passed away August 6, 2017, in Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay. Born in Midville Branch, Lunenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mildred (Smith) Spidle and the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her children, Mark Graves (Lynn), Wolfville, NS; Michael Graves, Sussex, NB; Catharine Crouse (Blair), Pontypool, ON; Michele Wamboldt (Philip), Petite Riviere, NS; grandchildren, Jennifer (Justin), Carmen (Bruce), Brendon, Breanne, Dillon, Cailey (Jarret), Alanna, Jessy, Jazmin; great-grandchildren, Emily, Caden, Dylan, Kiera. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick; brother, Lawrence; daughter, Maxine in infancy; great-grandson, Barrett in infancy. Mom was an independent woman who knew her mind and was not afraid to speak it. She valued education and completed a Commercial Course at Bridgewater Business School in 1950; afterward, she spoke fondly of her time working at Ben’s Ltd and Pier 21. She was adamant that all her children pursue higher education and was pleased they each acquired a post-secondary degree. Mom was Nannie to her nine grandchildren. She loved them all and was continually proud of their achievements. She slowed down considerably in her later years but enjoyed feeding the neighbourhood cats and always appeared contented when the family dogs arrived for a visit at her home. There will be no visitation by request. Family and friends are invited to a graveside burial service on August 16th at 2 pm in the Midville Branch Cemetery. A special thanks to Charles Smith of Midville Branch and Shirley Spidle of Auburndale. Cremation was entrusted to R. A. Corkum Funeral Home, Bridgewater. The family would like to express appreciation and gratitude to the staff at the Mahone Nursing Home, the South Shore Regional Hospital and Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital for their efforts on Mom’s behalf. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. May she rest in peace. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.corkumfuneralhome.ca
