Barry Loker, born in Pudsey, Yorkshire, England to Anna (Noble) and Lewis Loker on July 3, 1936, died on June 23, 2022, in the Veteran’s Unit of Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, NS.
Barry was a teacher and a singer. He taught high school science in England, Montreal and Zimbabwe. Barry sang with two Gilbert & Sullivan companies in Montreal, and with several chorales in Nova Scotia.
With great sadness his loss is mourned by his wife, Marie Hogan; daughter, Sara (Richard), ON; son, Simon (Patricia), BC; daughter, Lydia, (Bakela), USA; grandchildren, Liam, Carin, Portia, Tristan, Amanda, Robertson, Lester; great-grandchild, Isabella; step-children, Betsy (David), Stephanie (Ross) and Catherine; step-grandchildren Jack, Tom, Matthew, Grace, Tess.
The family is grateful for the kind care given to Barry at Fishermen’s by Dr. Conrad and Dr. Jenkins and by nursing and activity staff in Medical and in the Veteran’s Unit.
In keeping with Barry’s wishes there will be no funeral. Cremation has taken place. If desired, donations in Barry’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or to the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
