KENDALL, James

2020-07-18

It is with great sadness that the family of James Kendall announce his passing at his home on July 18, 2020. Jim was born in Ship Cove, NL, August 5, 1949. He was the son of the late Hubert and Helena (Whalen) Kendall. Jim is survived by his wife Irene (Chaisson) who supported him until his last breath. Jim is also survived by his loving sons, Jamie (Paola and son William) in Toronto; Christopher (Maryann) in Bridgewater and Michael in Chester. He was a good man and it showed, throughout his illness, by the love and support from his extended family, friends and neighbours. Jim followed his older brothers into scalloping, starting in the summers of his high school years. No matter the jobs or courses he took, back to scalloping he would go! After starting a young family and being away at sea for weeks at a time, he settled into a land job. He worked at Canexel for 25 years until he retired. He was very accepting of his diagnosis from the beginning. “It is just my time.” He shared humour and lots of laughter throughout his illness. “And I don’t want anyone crying. I’ll be watching!” Rest in peace, Jim. The family would like to thank everyone who reached out to the family, the entire health care team for their excellent care, especially his family doctor, Dr. Dobek, the palliative care team and VON nurses. Interment of ashes will take place at St. Augustine’s Parish in Chester. Service will be at a later date. www.davisfuneralhome
