HOUGHTON, Janice

2017-05-19

Age 79, of Chester, left us suddenly on May 19, 2017. Her family - Darcy, Sonya, Derek (children); Joey, Jeffery, Jason, Adrienne (grandchildren); Quentin, Riley, Layla (great-grandchildren) and Brenda (sister) will miss her dearly. She was a very strong fisherman's wife (Paul) who always put family first, as a stay-at-home mom she was always full of great ideas for school projects. Only after we left the nest did she do some part-time work in the community. But alas, she could also be a race car driver, a bowler in a league or a pitcher on a baseball team. Camping was also something she enjoyed with her grandsons. Road trips, craft and yard sales were favourite pastimes to do with her daughter. She might also be found playing Monopoly, Scrabble or a card game with any of us or her friends. A little R&R could be going for a walk, working in her gardens (roses), making crafts, doing crossword or jigsaw puzzles or reading with a cup of tea and chocolate of course. As the years went by she could be found birdwatching at her apartment at Shoreham. Thank you, Mom for your sacrifices, strength and support through our lives. You are respected, loved beyond measure and honoured in our hearts, as our family get-togethers are no more with you at the table. Because of you I am, who I am, so thank you for making my life what it is today. A service will be held May 24 at 11 a.m. in St. Stephens Parish, Chester. Donations can be made to Diabetes Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Cancer Society. Thank you all for your support. My mother by chance - my friend by choice, love Darcy.
