HIRTLE, Jamie

2021-08-25

Surviving is his wife of 61 years Donna (Lohnes), daughters Sherry (Dave) Smith, Petrina (Shawn) Mulock, and Jayne Hirtle; grandsons Jace and Bailey Mulock and step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Janie (Rayburne) Whynot, Debbie Naugler, Jerry Prosser; brother Kenny (Laura) Hirtle and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, infant son at birth and brother and sister in-law Donnie and Dolly Hirtle; sister Faye (John) Tumblin.

He was employed at many places over the years. He started out fishing on many boats, a janitor at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Farmers Dairy and Hillside Pines.

He loved spending precious time with his family laughing, joking and giving lots of hugs and kisses. He could sit on the deck and watch the boats on the LaHave River all day when he was living in Conquerall Bank. Camping was so much fun at KOA in our big green bus. Dad loved collecting boats, seeing and driving in antique cars, enjoyed bowling until his health prevented him from doing so. He was known for his hair with the wave.

Dad will be missed so much. Our hearts are broken and will be altered forever.

We want to say a big thank-you to the staff at South Shore regional ICU and 6.4 CCU at QEII Hospital in Halifax. You went above and beyond for dad. He loved and joked with all his nurses. A special thank-you to Corinne for making our last day with dad a little bearable. She went out of her way to make sure we ate by making sandwiches and tea, all while taking care and making dad comfortable until the end. We will never forget the nurse’s kind words of dad along with hugging and crying with us, once the end came.

Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be held 1 p.m. September 15 in Pleasantville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, where on-line condolences may be made by visiting www.corkumfuneralhome.ca

"Until we meet again Dad, We love you."
