LOWE (Oickle), Samantha Jane

2022-03-22

Late in the evening of March 22, 2022, Samantha Jane Lowe succumbed to cancer. She passed peacefully under the care of staff at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, NS. Born in Bridgewater on May 18, 1976, Samantha was the daughter of Paul R. and Jane (Nauss) Oickle. She is survived by her husband, Matthew, and three children, Rachyl (John), Martin and Tristan as well as father Paul, brother Paul (Kristine) and sister Roxanne (Murray) and their families. She is predeceased by her mother, Jane.

Sammy lived her life with a positive attitude despite the challenges she faced. Anyone who knew her knew she was a fighter, a strong woman who would set her own burdens aside to help others. She was a truly authentic person who made a point to stay connected with the people she cared for. She always made time for others, never gossiped, or complained. Her ability to see the silver lining in any situation was admirable and faith gave her strength.

If you knew Sammy, you knew she loved her family first and above all else. It was unconditional, fierce and without judgement. Sure, there were arguments from time to time, she was strong willed. If you knew her, you also knew she had the backs of her family and friends and would fight and defend with everything she had. You could be certain she loved you because she always made a point to say it out loud. Every departure ended with “See you later, I love you.”

She paid it forward every day. Sammy was the type of person who would strike up a conversation with anyone, sparked by something that she liked about them. With honesty, she complimented people, even if she didn't know them. Sammy always tried to put a smile on people's faces. Her sense of humor, laughter and smile will be missed by many.

Through our memories of how she lived her life, Samantha continues to continue to give us inspiration and courage “LIVE! Really Live!!” every day.

In keeping with her desire to help others she generously dedicated her body to the Dalhousie Human Body Donation Program. The program is designed to help health professional students build the knowledge they need in their future careers. Cremation will be performed by the University at a future date and a Celebration of Life is being planned for this coming summer.
