OICKLE, Marcella M.

2023-02-26

Marcella M. Oickle, 90, formerly of Riverview, passed away at The Moncton Hospital, on Sunday, February 26, 2023. Born in New Germany, NS, she was the youngest daughter of the late D. Sinclair and Sadie (Deal) Oickle.

Mom was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, the A.C.W., Riverview Arts council, the Daughters of the Nile and a former member of Genealogy Society of NS.

Mom worked in office administration before getting married, then worked at home, raising and taking care of her family in the Bridgewater area then later moving to Riverview. She also worked in women’s retail for a period of time. Mom was an interesting person as she was not afraid to speak her mind and you always knew where you stood with her. She had a funny sense of quick wit humor that we always enjoyed. Her last six years were spent at the Moncton Residence where she was well looked after.

She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Brown (William) of Lower Coverdale, her son, Scott Oickle (Barbara) of Moncton; grandchildren, Nicholas Brown of Moncton, and Jessica Brown formally of Halifax; Ryan (Connie) Oickle of Penticton BC and Lauren Manning (Colin) of Moncton, great-granddaughters Skye & Rowan Oickle and Navy Manning; as well as nieces and nephews.

Marcella is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Fred C. Oickle; two sisters, Thelma Jodrey and Audrey Russell, a brother Borden, also by a nephew Junior Jodrey and a great-nephew Stephen Spidle.

The family received friends and relatives at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, Riverview on Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

The funeral service was held at Tuttle Brothers Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 1:45 p.m. with celebrant Venerable Brent Ham.

Interment will be in Alderwood Cemetery, Riverview at a later date.

Donations can be made to St John the Baptist Anglican Church in Riverview or a charity of choice.
