Age 83, Conquerall Mills. Evelyn passed away peacefully in the QEII, Halifax Infirmary on Sunday, May 8, 2022, with her immediate family at her side. She was born in Bridgewater in 1938 and grew up in Conquerall Bank. She was a daughter of Forrest and Beatrice Meisner and a family of nine brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Alvin; two sons, Rodney (Deanna) and Scott (Andrea); and daughter, Darlene (the late Royden); five grandchildren, Natasha (Rick), Ben (Alicia), David (Mary), Carter and Claire; and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Ethel Whynot, Myrtle Grant; and brother, Norman Meisner.

She was predeceased by her parents, Forrest and Beatrice; sisters, Thelma, Dorothy and Margaret; brothers, Eldred and Clyde; and daughter, Cheryl.

Evelyn will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and her propensity to put others before herself. She loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and her home was always a welcome place for people to visit, including the numerous children whom she cared for over the years. Evelyn was a hard worker all through her life and had a determined, quick-witted personality. She enjoyed playing bingo, Yahtzee, card games and doing the weekly Lexicon. Later in life she enjoyed watching game shows particularly Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune.

A special thanks to Dr. Livingstone (Susan and Jo-Anne), Dr. McNally and staff for all their compassion and professional care over the years. Also, our deepest gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the QEII Halifax Infirmary.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022, from 2-4 p.m. at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater. Masks are to be worn for the visitation. Family gathering at the graveside, to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Conquerall Bank.
