CHESTNEY, Mark Leonard

2017-05-12

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of beloved father, son and brother, Mark, which occurred suddenly at his home on Saturday, April 29, 2017. Mark was born on March 21, 1963, in Burlington, Ontario but spent most of his life in Mahone Bay. He worked for many years at Mahone Funeral and Ambulance, while most recently working for Nova Scotia Building Supplies. Mark also spent time working in the Pool Industry in North Carolina, also largely in sales. It was often said that "he could sell snow to an Eskimo." Mark was an avid photographer, camper and spent a lot of his vacation time at the NASCAR races in Charlotte, NC with close friends. He had an incredible sense of humour and was always known to be the life of the party. He is survived by his two sons, Aaron (Susan) Corkum and Jordan Chestney; his daughter, Rachel (Chris) Graham; his two sisters, Kathy (Johnny) Sebek and Karen Chestney; his brother, Michael (Phyrne) Chestney; his mother, Beryl Chestney; his grandchildren, Cohen, Ethan, and Owen; his nieces, Micaela, Maia and Gracie, as well as many close friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Barry Chestney. A Celebration of Life will be held 2pm, Friday, May 5, 2017, at Trinity United Church, 101 Edgewater St., Mahone Bay. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Cremation and arrangements entrusted to the care of Mahone Funeral Home, P.O. Box 200, 32 Parish St., Mahone Bay, NS B0J 2E0 (902-624-8241).
