SIZER, Sally

2017-12-20

The family of Sally Sizer regret to announce her passing on December 20, 2017. Sally was born in Somerset, England, daughter of the late Marjory Hicks and David Sizer. Trained as a nurse with many years as a medical practice manager, she soon met a wild Irish doctor, and emigrated to Canada where they decided to build a boat and dreamed of sailing around the world. Sally and late husband Martin never quite made it around the world, but did cross the Atlantic. They raised a family of four children: Sebastian Brennan, Sarah Yorke, Liam Brennan (predeceased), and Thomas Brennan, as well as grandchildren Ewan and Niall. Just as Sally was a respected and cherished part of Glace Bay, so she was in later years in Mahone Bay, where she spent several years caring for Martin, her loving husband of 43 years. She was always so grateful for the care, support and community of her many friends, who loved her dearly. Sally was fiercely independent, loved books, crafts and sometimes played the flute. She was a committed volunteer at local charities, such as the Daisy. As well her children and grandchildren, Sally is survived by her brothers Ian Sizer and Anthony Pratt. Our family would like to thank everyone who supported our parents as they cared for each other over last four years. Her sudden absence will be felt by all who knew her. Following cremation, there will be no visitation. A grave side gathering will happen May 26 at 1 p.m. at Second Peninsula Cemetery followed by a get together at 2 p.m. at the Indian Point Fire Hall, 59 Indian Point Rd, R.R.#2, Mahone Bay, NS. Donations in Sally’s memory can be made to the Lunenburg County Ground Search and Rescue, the Daisy Bridgewater, or to a charity of one's choice.
