93, of Dartmouth. It is with great sadness that the family of Carl F. Atkins announce his peaceful passing on February 14, 2019 at his home in Dartmouth. Carl was born in Halifax on August 24, 1925 to the late Harry and Kathleen (Gough) Atkins. Carl is survived by his daughter Joy Lambert (Steven), Grandchildren Tommy Lambert and Jonathan Lambert, all from Victoria, BC, Anthony Falls, Edmonton, AB and Caitlin Falls, Edmonton, AB. Carl is also survived by his only remaining sibling and constant companion, K. Dolores (Dunny) FitzGerald; as well as many nieces and nephews. Carl was predeceased by his beloved wife, LeVaughan (Jennings) Atkins, and their beloved daughter Linda (Atkins) Falls, brothers Roy Atkins, James (Mary) Atkins, sister Margaret (Raymond) MacKinnon. Carl was a long-standing and faithful employee of DND beginning his career at the tender age of 17 in November of 1942. Carl worked at the dockyards for over 40 years, retiring as a Lt. Colonel on June 29, 1990. In the early days, Carl, LeVaughan and Linda spent many weekends camping and traveling around Nova Scotia, particularly in the Lunenburg area, sharing time with many friends and family, building a lifelong friendship with his niece Lauralene Van Loon. Through the years Carl formed a great adoration and special kinship with Linda’s children Anthony and Caitlin and he cherished the many happy times enjoyed during their visits and talks. Carl’s hobbies were enjoying meals with family and playing the stock market. Cremation has taken place. There was a celebration of life at Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen Street, Dartmouth, NS, Friday, February 22, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. A private interment will follow at a later date.
