56, of Mahone Bay, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020, at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Liverpool, she was a daughter of Florena (MacDonald) Newell of Pine Grove and the late Robert Newell. Karen’s heart was always with her family and the ocean, her favorite place. She loved sharing and reflecting on the time she spent as a child at Port Joli. As a mother she enjoyed walks on Cherry Hill beach with her family and beloved dogs as well as many boating adventures around Port Medway harbour. Karen took great pride in her work and accomplishments. She was an extremely organized woman, able to excel in whatever she put her mind to. She gained a great deal of trust and confidence from her clients and co-workers when working as a bookkeeper in fisher payroll. Karen also had an adventurous spirit, she loved to travel so when the opportunity arose, she decided to move to Germany for several years. She eagerly took on the task of learning the language and quickly became a respected and valued team lead in an e-commerce company while there. Being one to always want to learn and explore, she spent much of her leisure time traveling to various destinations within Germany and around Europe. When it was time to move back home to Nova Scotia she decided to study real estate, which she excelled at, finishing top of her class. Karen enjoyed living in Mahone Bay and being closer to her family. She was so happy to spend time with her children and young grandchildren, whom she always spoke so fondly and proudly of. Karen will be remembered as a very kind, caring and passionate woman to all she knew. She was always available to lend an ear and could be counted on to give good advice or an enlightened opinion. She was an excellent baker and enjoyed making treats for family, friends and neighbours. Undoubtedly, she found much pleasure in doing things for others and as a result leaves a lasting impact on many people’s lives. Karen was sadly taken away too soon but leaves behind many happy memories which will be cherished forever. Karen is survived by her daughter, Alecia (Kris Boutilier) Wamboldt, Rothsay, NB; son, Kyle (Misty Spurrell) Wamboldt, Conception Bay South, NL; mother, Florena Newell, Pine Grove; grandchildren, William Boutilier, Freya and Brennan Wamboldt; sisters, Isabel (Matthew Wile) Newell, Pine Grove, Rosemary (Peter) Burgess, Port Mouton; brothers, Brian (Jane) Newell, Bruce Newell, both of Voglers Cove.
