Age 78, Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, in Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany. Born February 10, 1939, in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Alfred James and Gladys Marie (Forhan) Auld. Barbara was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Bridgewater, where she volunteered many hours with the St. Vincent du Paul Society, the Giving Tree and the ladies aid. In her earlier years, she was a District Commissioner for the Girl Guides of Canada, Dartmouth; as well as volunteered with the minor hockey league, Dartmouth. Surviving are her children, James (Joeann), East LaHave; Robert (Deana), Shelburne; Cathy Stewart (Doug), Watford; Derek (Michelle), Dartmouth; Shannon Stewart (Nathanial), West Northfield; grandchildren, James, Kaylea, Paige, Morgan, Quinn, Sydney, David, Johnathan, Scott, Jill, Josh, Zach, Brooklyn, Mackenzie, Jack, Emelia and Griffin; great-grandchildren, Harley and Hendrix; sister, Sandra (Jack) Delaney, Sackville; brothers, Timothy (Joy) Auld, Steven (BettyAnne) Auld, all of Sackville; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Philip Stewart. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m., Thursday, March 9 in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral mass to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held 11 a.m., Friday, March 10 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Bridgewater. Father Jim MacDonald, OMI, officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the parish center. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bridgewater. Flowers accepted and memorial donations may be made in her memory to the St. Vincent du Paul Society or Mental Health Services of the South Shore.
