MCGINNIS, Charles Melburne "Charlie"

Died January 3, 2021 after a lengthy illness. Charlie was born September 1,1931 in Martin’s Point to Lorenzo and Lottie (Sawler) McGinnis. He started work at a very young age in Truro working the Horse Racing Circuit until later becoming a drywall installer, mastering the trade until becoming injured and no longer able to do the job he spent a lot of his life performing. He was married to the love of is life for 68 years after meeting her in Halifax at the Public Gardens. They made Martin’s River their home and had three children. He enjoyed hunting, snaring, trapping, digging clams, and all kinds of fishing his entire life and loved having his friends come to the house for chats on the best fishing and hunting spots and the big ones that got away. He leaves behind to mourn his loss; his wife, Alice (Hardiman); his children, Joan Dorey (Donald) and Bubby McGinnis; four grandchildren, Kerry Dorey (Michael), Scott Dorey, Shawn Dorey (Sherri) and Jennifer Tang (Chung); 10 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his extended family in Newfoundland and also his great friend, "Little Mike"(Swinimer) who has always held a special place in his heart. Charlie was predeceased by his young daughter, Rose Marie; parents, Lorenzo and Lottie (Sawler); sisters, Elsie Clarke, Minerva Eisnor, Bernice Hiltz, Margery Sendrowski, and Bessie Dorey. He was the last surviving member of his immediate McGinnis family. Charlie has been cremated and a Graveside Service will be announced at a later date in the spring.
