Frances Isobel Crossland. Age 94, "Auntie Belle", passed away peacefully at Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay on Sunday, December 17, 2017. Born May 12, 1923 in Clearland, she was a daughter of the late George and Nita (Gilnaught) Crossland. She was predeceased by sister, Rowena Rhuland and brothers, Edward and Donald Crossland. She is survived by niece, Elizabeth (Tom) Spinney, Middleton, and great niece, Mary (Jonathan) Crouse, New Canada; nephews, Dwight, Edward (Virginia), Gary (Elizabeth); niece, Patricia, as well as other extended family. Isobel was employed by Maritime Tel & Tel for 35 years as well as a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was devoted to her church, St. James’ Anglican, Mahone Bay. She was a choir member for over 60 years, a member of the sanctuary guild, Secretary of CBL and President of the ACW. Isobel was active in her community. She was President for the Legionettes for 35 years. She was a member of the Mahone Bay Founders Society and canvassed for several charities. She was also a recipient of two volunteer awards. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, Father Chad McCharles officiated, immediately followed by interment in Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to St. James’ Anglican Church or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Mahone Funeral Home, P. O.
