It is with great sadness that the family of Roseville Gordon Tanner, 94, of Lunenburg, announces his passing on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born in Stonehurst, he was a son of the late Capt. Calvin and Caroline (Selig) Tanner. Roseville fished for most of his working life with Adams and Knickle and was then employed for a number of years with Fisheries and Oceans Canada until his retirement. After he retired, he worked part-time at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic. He was a member of Central United Church, Lunenburg. Roseville was well known for his generosity and strong community support. He and his wife Hazel, built a strong and loving relationship, enjoying every moment together until her passing in 1999. Roseville was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by several nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and grand-nephews. Roseville was predeceased by his much-adored wife, Hazel; sister, Joyce Conrad; brothers, Robert, Douglas and Bernard. Friends are invited to share their memories of Roseville with his family, during visitation on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. #3, Lunenburg. Funeral service to celebrate Roseville’s life will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Central United Church, Rev. Grace Caines-Corkum officiating. Interment at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.
