It is with great sadness that the family of Kenneth “Raymond” Skinner, 84, of Lunenburg, announces his passing on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Little Bay West, Newfoundland, Raymond was a son of the late John and Rosanna (Garland) Skinner. He was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg. Raymond began his working career at the the age of fourteen, sword and scallop fishing, and then went to work as a crane operator on the oil rigs for Sedco. After his retirement he continued to be active and worked at the Fisheries Museum in Lunenburg, where he enjoyed meeting the tourists and sharing the local history. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a generous and loving man who always had a smile on his face. Raymond is survived by his wife, Germaine, daughter, Theresa (Patrick) Ring, Blockhouse, sons, Michael (Felicia) Skinner, Garden Lots, Kenneth (Lorna) Skinner, Halifax; sister, Beatrice Hiltz, Lunenburg; brothers, Chelsey (Doreen) Skinner, Bridgewater, Albert Skinner, Lunenburg, Winston Skinner, Newcombville; grandchildren, Kelsey, Ethan, Logan; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Elsie, brothers, Arthur, Stanley and Eli. Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3 Lunenburg, Rev. Laura Marie Piotrowicz, officiated. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church, Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital or to any other charity. www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
