It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Smeltzer, on October 8, 2017, at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born on Valentines Day in 1928 in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late William and Amy (Sallard) Westerman. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Clarence; brothers, Ted and Bill Westerman; sister, Rose Bowes; many half brothers and sisters; nephews, Jim, Peter and Billy Westerman. She is survived by sons, Michael (Brenda), Ottawa; Ken, Maders Cove; daughter, Deborah, Maders Cove; granddaughter, Alyssa (Sebastian Kretzmer), Ottawa; great-grandson, Michael; sister, Jean Westerman, New Glasgow; sister-in-law, Eve Westerman, New Glasgow; many nieces and nephews. She had a quiet, calm nature and enjoyed sewing and many crafts; playing cards and games with family and friends and especially reading. She was a member of St. James’ Anglican Church ACW and with her husband, liked to help at church suppers. We will miss her greatly. Thanks to the doctors and nurses at South Shore Regional Hospital and family doctor, Dr Farzadfar. No visiting.
