SCHWARTZ, Betty

97, of Bridgewater, passed away on September 11, 2022, in South Shore

Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. She was the daughter of Simeon and Beatrice (Awalt) Crossland of Mahone Bay, NS.

Betty was a very independent, strong willed lady. During her life she worked several retail jobs, and especially loved her last job working at Cezanne’s, a ladies’ clothing store in Bridgewater. She had a passion for gardening and took great pride in keeping her property well maintained. She was also known for baking great bread and rolls, which she often shared with family, friends and neighbours. She never had her driver’s license for a car, but got her bike license later in life and drove her Moped well into her 70s. She had a soft heart for animals and would look after strays; and she had over 17 years of enjoyment with her lovebird Peaches.

Betty has one surviving sister, Iris Tanner, Mahone Bay, but she leaves behind many extended family members.

She was predeceased by her husband Gordon, son Terrance “Terry”, and sister Joan Bezanson.

A graveside service was held at the Hillside Cemetery, Lunenburg, with Rev’d Dr. Patti Brace officiating.
