IVANCIC, Pearl Louise

On June 11, 2017, at 9:33 p.m., God looked down from heaven and said, "it’s time". With that, Pearl Louise Ivancic (80) of Scarsdale, NS, went home to her Heavenly Father. Born April 2, 1937, she was the loving daughter of the late Phinney and Elizabeth (Smith) Johnson of Petite Riviere, NS. Pearl was the mother of 8 children. When she moved to Toronto in the early 1960s, she became a superintendent of a large 104-unit apartment building. It was there that she met her second husband, Dane. When they moved back to Nova Scotia years later, they purchased a quaint country property in the rural community of Scarsdale, where she lived the remainder of her life. Pearl loved to garden and could make anything grow. She was especially proud of her grandson’s (Travis’) ‘weed’ (viburnum), as he called it, and maintained a beautiful rose garden that thrived on her love and care. Pearl also loved to feed the birds and wildlife that frequented her property, including ‘Chippy’ the squirrel who would often run inside the house long enough to take a peanut from her. She took great pride and joy in her budgie bird companion, ‘Papa 2’, who would sing to her daily and give her kisses. One of Pearl’s favourite activities was BINGO at the Martin’s River Fire Hall on Monday evenings, where she was often joined by family and friends for nearly 30 years. She had a life-long passion for the ocean and frequently visited Green Bay for a dip in the water and a walk in the sand. She also loved children and took on various childcare jobs over the years. Her last one was for Mitchell and Michele Beck, where she took care of Logan and Colton for 9 years and became part of the family. Pearl was a hard worker with a pleasing personality; she was never one to complain. Even when she wasn’t feeling well, she would tell you she was fine. When life wasn’t good to her, she would embrace it head on with her positive attitude and beautiful smile. She will be sadly missed by her husband Dane; children Janet (Earlen) Eisener, West Northfield; Mike (Lois) Smith, Westville; Judie Smith-Robart (Wayne Everist), Pickering, ON; Richard/Ricky (Stacey) Smith, Rhodes Corner; John/Johnny (Nancy) Smith, Pine Grove; Cheryl Smith, Liverpool; Sherry Smith (Jeff Lohnes), Pine Grove; and stepsons Frankie and Paul Ivancic, ON. Sister June and brother Ron. Grandchildren Travis (Meghan) Eisener; Tracie Eisener (Richard Rafuse); Colton Smith; Shauna Leblanc-Wekarchuck (Steve); Jarett Robart; Natasha Smith; Ryan Smith (Courtney Munroe); Jillian (Tyler) Smith; Mark and Luke Smith; Joey Smith (Acacia Lovin); Deo Smith (Aleen Sokema); Melinda Gallant (Aron Crawley); and Catlin (Emma) Lohnes. Great-grandchildren Mallory and Mason Eisener; Mackenzie and Mason Wekarchuck; Rowan, Ella and Sophie Smith; Eli Smith; Michael and Meadow Crawley; Jace Smith; and Nevaeh Smith. Pearl was predeceased by her parents, daughter Shelly, brother Bain, sister Susan, and first husband Seldon Smith. Cremation has taken place; there is no burial at this time. An informal visitation for family and friends to remember Pearl will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017, from 1-3 p.m. at the Barss Corner Community Hall. Donations can be made to the Petite Riviere Cemetery, Barss Corner Community Hall, or to the charity of your choice. On-line condolences may be made by visiting www.corkumfuneralhome.ca
